Description

In this Economic and Social Research seminar, Martin Burton from the Cochrane Centre at the University of Oxford will be discussing how evidence can be used to make better decisions.

Professor Martin Burton is the Director of the UK Cochrane Centre and Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Oxford. He is a Consultant Otolaryngologist at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and Fellow in Clinical Medicine at Balliol College. Founding co-ordinating editor of the Cochrane Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders Group he was the clinical lead of the ENT & Audiology Library of the UK’s National Library for Health.

Particular area of interest are evidence based medicine (EBM); meta-analysis and systematic review and ear, nose and throat disorders in adults and children, especially ear disorders, including chronic middle at and mastoid disease, cholesteatoma, deafness , tinnitus and vertigo.
